Welcome to Areyvut
Areyvut is the Jewish value of mutual responsibility, which is from the Hebrew phrase “kol yisrael arayvim zeh ba’zeh” all Jews are responsible for one another. Areyvut wants to spread our message of hope, compassion and pro-action through this philosophy of Mutual Giving. We believe that even a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective approach can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team and volunteer families will work tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the future, starting with the children we were divinely gifted.
Leading by example is the key to making and creating a big difference. Children mirror our life’s example. Rabbi Manis Friedman has said that the worst a child will become is us. The phrase “Mitzvah goreret Mitzvah” means that one good deed inspires another. We can model the actions we want to see in this world by providing the canvas for them to learn, grow, explore and create.
AREYVUT AT A GLANCE
A Distinct Identity
At Areyvut, we understand that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. During the year of 2020 our vision of our organization developed with our children’s and communities whole approach to their essential needs which showed us was far from 20/20. So many children and families slipped between the cracks of the broader Global Jewish Community and we did not have the ability, knowledge or true confidence to take the mutual responsibility ensuring our overall and internal community thrives. Each child is an individual and learns accordingly. Sticking to a traditional educational system will not work for every child’s unique soul and fingerprint in this world. The future is made of their budding individualism, creativity and entrepreneurship; all they need is the time and the tools to access their potential. This change starts with connection. There is no limit to what we can do as a community, when we support and show up for one another, we can accomplish such great beautiful outcomes. Our Founders of Areyvut and the families seeking this assistance and connection, realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more effectively, and with those core initiatives we decided to launch Areyvut.
WHAT WE DO
Making a Difference at our
Agricultural Jewish Enrichment Learning Center
Imagine a co-learning environment that fosters a healthy social emotional support system where students gather to express and experience their unique intellectual gifts; a place where they can safely feel free to investigate and pursue their souls purpose?
Furthering our cause is the most important goal of our organization. We seek to support, empower, and provide high quality innovative resources to our community in a safe and secure agricultural environment. Our success isn’t measured in terms of wealth or profit margin, but by the value we mutually provide to those we serve. Utilizing tried and true models and joining the co-learning global community we will achieve a great interconnected self sustainable system of life long learners and innovators.
We dream of creating an inclusive Jewish enrichment and learning global community for all Jews no matter their observance or educational levels. However global we dream we must start locally. This will be a home base for our children grades K-12 to bring their secular curriculum, gathering to co-learn and grow, whether they be registered in a private or public school, homeschooled, hybrid or virtual schooled. A learning center for families to gather with their children, providing a canvas where children may co-learn, grow, innovate and socialize in a diverse Orthodox Jewish learning environment.
We have not forgotten the parents, this space will be an opportunity where they can focus on their remote work, growth and socialize on site along with their children, with an array of resources and activities to encourage their self growth, co-learn and work.
During this past year, many families have struggled to provide this balanced environment in their home, creating enough motivation to learn and keep the home still a home. Convenient access to a vibrant and warm community with like minded parenting role modeling has been an obstacle. Therefore we are inspired to open the opportunity of having an integrative eco friendly co learning community center in a agricultural setting for our children and their families to thrive educationally, emotionally and most importantly spiritually.
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with the challenge to inspire responsible autonomous maturity, especially when our children currently feel so disconnected to their personal Jewish history, traditions and responsibilities. Bar And Bat Mitzvah Planning is something that we believe is a core foundation and passage of rights, and our team will be working each and every day to make a positive impact. Training a child in the way they should go starts from the moment they desire that growth, and it starts from a young age collaborating with not just the family unit but also our community. At Areyvut, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this fundamental Jewish observance. Tefillah is by no means an easy feat, it is learning to connect and communicate with Hashem, our creator. Through inspiration, cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to become closer to Hashem, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. The Jewish Calendar is full of rich Experiences built upon our own people’s and world’s history. At Areyvut, we are dedicated to enriching and immersing Jewish values within our children’s lives. Learning in an agricultural setting will provide a canvas for our community members to co learn in an environment where we can focus not only on Torah but also on the Avodah; “work” and incorporate our Torah values and teachings in the work we will physically be able to accomplish in our lives. That includes our spiritual work. before the temple was destroyed we had Jewish laws with a meaningful blueprint how to live our lives. We will use the agricultural environment to enrich our children’s lives with ancient and current Torah wisdom. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
With this core initiative, our goal is to provide an array of programs and recreational resources to promote an optimal whole-body approach to health. At Areyvut, the vision is not just “The Pursuit of Finding Happiness” it is more so the “The Finding of Happiness in the Pursuit”. Our mission is to connect our community through mutual giving. Such a purpose can not be attained without using a mindful approach. Together with our families we will mindfully share the responsibility and space for adults and children to feel heard and validated, important and unique individuals. When children see adults role model mindful living they have the foundation where training to be their best and knowing they are an essential community member combine. Ensuring a strong healthy emotional sense of self-worth is key to optimal growth. Utilizing mindfulness we will also provide parents with regular training how to confidently and consciously raise their children within community involvement.
Everyone has the human right to to go “shopping around”. At Areyvut, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing the ideology that every child is unique and learns individually. Providing a marketplace of spaces where our children can receive guidance and “shop” around for the perfect services to enhance secular or religious knowledge in a private or group lesson that will motivate educational empowerment and advancement. We believe this will facilitate progress all in the comfort of our children’s community “home base” rather than putting the stress on parents to schedule educational enrichment or instruction in multiple locations at higher cost to their budget and families values. We will provide that essential access to social emotional and academic guidance Counselling, curriculum support, educators, tutors, college admissions counselors to name a few. Helping children to navigate and investigate multiple career and personal planning strategies for life in a inspiring meaningful directive is key to growing life long learners. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
Our goal is to inspire and promote each child's worth showing them their innate intellectual individual gifts. Encouraging growth through great opportunities realizing the impossible IS possible. With access to the right resources and innovative environment, children will become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential and passions. Whatever the child is interested in we will strive to provide the “laboratory of learning” for them. Learn more about our work by getting in touch with our team today.
“it is not your responsibility to finish the work (of perfecting the world), but not are you free to desist from it”.
“kol yisrael arayvim zeh ba’zeh“
Rabbi Tarfon. (Pirkei Avot 2:22)
"Education that is merely concerned with the transmission of information is doomed to failure. It must serve a more noble purpose of cultivating a student's moral character."
"Contrary to conventional perspective which regards children as potential human beings who do not reach their full worth until maturity, Jewish tradition perceives children as worthy and deserving of our greatest resources of time and energy."
"If you see what needs to be repaired and know how to repair it, then you have found a piece of the world that G-d has left for you to complete."
- The Lubavitcher Rebbe
"Since we can't know what knowledge will be most needed in the future, it is senseless to try to teach it in advance. Instead, we should try to turn out people who love learning so much and learn so well that they will be able to learn whatever needs to be learned."
- John Holt, Author
"Genius is an exceedingly common human quality, probably natural to most of us."
"Whatever an education is, it should make you a unique individual, not a conformist; it should furnish you with an original spirit with which to tackle the big challenges; it should allow you to find values which will be your roadmap through life; it should make you spiritually rich, a person who loves whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whomever you are with; it should teach you what is important"
"Children learn what the live. Put kids in a class and the will live out their lives in an invisible cage, isolated from their chance at community; interrupt kids with bells and horns all the time and they will learn that nothing is important or worth finishing; ridicule them and they will retreat from human association; shame them and they will find a hundred ways to get even. The habits taught in large-scale organizations are deadly."
- John Taylor Gatto, Author Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling
"Sometimes getting away from 'school' is the best thing that can happen to a great mind"
- Ken Robinson, Author
"Before we ever put a pencil in a child's hands, those hands should dig, climb, press, pull, squish, twist & pinch a wide array of environments and a wide array of mateirals."
- Amanda Morgan
